DAY 13 with Teresa Ann:
ABOVE OR BENEATH
“Get out of my face!” The woman yelled with anger raging through her bones.
She irately continued, “I can’t believe you said that about me! Do you know who I am? How dare you?”
As the expletives flew around so carelessly; you could see why the woman was so angry; it was a “rightfully so”, however in this scenario it caused me to see another potential storyline drenched in God’s power revealing humility:
“What did you say?” The woman continued with such gentleness, “You must be in so much pain. For you to same something like this about me or anyone for that matter. You’re better than this. I know you are better than this because GOD created you. How dare the enemy think he can have you.” All the while this woman who revealed God’s love embraced and did not condemn.
As the soft answer subdued the anger; love covered in this scenario.
In scenario 1, the anger raged because pride was the root along with the hidden fears of being rejected and lied about. “Grevious, hateful words only stirred up anger”. Yet in scenario 2, humility’s position allowed the perspective to be above and not beneath; engagement with that person was drenched in loving kindness. “A soft answer turned away wrath.”
How we engage is such a key step to the rest of those moments thereafter. It’s incredible how position and perspective is so key to how we proceed in this life toward others and situations.
Humility humiliates and frustrates the plans of the enemy; yet pride leaves such destruction in it’s wake.
REFLECTION OF THE WORD WITH HOLY SPIRIT:
Deuteronomy 28:13; Matthew 7:1-6; Luke 6:27-42; Proverbs 15:1; Micah 6:8; James 4
With these contrasting scenarios, did you clearly see the power of God’s love and the position of love?
Although humility “sounds” lowly; it actually reveals how it is ABOVE situations and not BENEATH. Do you see how the position of humility is actually high and lifted up; while pride is beneath?
What does the well known declaration of, “I am above and not beneath” from Deuteronomy 28:13 now look like to you? Will you please comment below and share what GOD has highlighted to you personally?
