ORIGIN
This morning as I woke up, that same song, “Blessed Assurance” came forth with these words, “This is my story; this is my song; praising my Savior all the day long.” In short, those words echo, “this is my testimony of WHO HE IS”.
Which led me to the reminder that we have a daily testimony that grows with the numerous other testimonies of the goodness of GOD in the midst of the good, the bad, and the indifferent within these passing moments of time in this journey of our lives.
With that said, the other song that seemed to spring forth like a powerful geyser was, “O Victory in Jesus”.
Declaring with a grateful heart over my parents as they both are living examples of lives that fight from the place and position in Christ WHO is VICTORY. Even their lives reveal the beautiful promise that we no longer have to fight for victory; but it’s our residence in WHO OUR GOD IS.
So today it causes me to declare and to remain grateful to Jesus that we have the choice to constantly echo the VICTORY in WHO HE IS! Even as I write, may every sort of depression be replaced with GOD’S OIL OF JOY that permeates, saturates and drenches you even beyond the marrows of your bones…causing even the physical body to respond to WHO HE IS In Jesus name!
I’m reminded constantly that HIS faithful promises are our Armor and Protection as HE IS our Armor and Protector. What a powerful knowing that not only does HE give us what we need; HE IS WHAT WE NEED.
So today I proclaim with boldness in my position with Christ that as you choose HIM, as I choose HIM, no matter the outcome, may we remember that we are blessed going in, and blessed going out. The calling of GOD on our lives are demonstratively unique on an individual level and yet when they collide as we gather together; the power of GOD is seen so that others glorify our Father in heaven!
O victory in JESUS! Today I urge myself and you, let’s continue to reveal HIS VICTORY. We must no longer look at our jobs within our marriages, families, the marketplace, and even the ministry as a place to work and get goals crushed; but see our job as a mission with great purpose. We GET TO at every moment see every part of our lives as truly a mission field where we get to reveal GOD’s LOVE we have so freely received. This is the “life giving” reservoir from where we give. There are so many moments we have the opportunity to reveal HIS best through the way we think, speak and do; causing a refreshing spectacle to those we do life with and work with; revealing yet again, “O Victory in Jesus”!
As you and I revel on and reveal the goodness of GOD today – I want to share what I found in relation to the old hymn, Victory in Jesus. As I’ve said before, the moments we get to see yet another glorious side of GOD is usually within the moments of seeming crushing and what would look like defeat, and this song does exactly that.
“VICTORY IN JESUS” Lyrics:
I heard an old, old story,
how a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary,
to save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
of His precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
and won the victory.
Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever!
He sought me and bought me
with His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him,
and all my love is due Him-
He plunged me to victory
beneath the cleansing flood.
I heard about His healing,
of His cleansing pow’r revealing,
How He made the lame
to walk again and caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,
come and heal my broken spirit,”
And somehow Jesus came
and brought to me the victory.
Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever!
He sought me and bought me
with His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him,
and all my love is due Him-
He plunged me to victory
beneath the cleansing flood.
I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold
beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing
and the old redemption story-
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there
the song of victory.
Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever!
He sought me and bought me
with His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him,
and all my love is due Him-
He plunged me to victory
beneath the cleansing flood.
