HOW GREAT THOU ART
This morning that good old hymn, “How Great Thou Art” was bellowing in my heart as I woke up to another day.
I couldn’t help but agree within my soul what my spirit was saying, “Yes, how great YOU are, GOD!”
And when I think…to the measures HE went through to reconcile HIS children back to HIMSELF; Jesus bled and died to take away our sin. How can our soul not sing, “How Great Thou Art”.
So with that, my declaration over you is the praise of HOW GREAT GOD IS as I pray HE will be seen in each of our lives. To simply be the light and the salt of the earth. But what does that look like to be the light and the salt? To simply overcome evil with good. To allow Holy Spirit to lead us out from the flesh and make our decisions from an eternal perspective, versus the right now.
Today I am led to think of my parents lives and the power of obedience. Their lives have echoed the reverberating words of, “How Great Thou Art”. I was reminded today of a word that my mom received a few years ago through Christine Caine in the James Robison studio. The word that reverberates within her even today.
It went something like this, “There are those of you who feel like because you are older, that life is over and now it’s time to waste away because your moments are over. But what a lie. Listen, this season is the most important season of your life in the LORD.” It made me think how for her, ministry with The LORD was just getting started. But here is what happened. My mom didn’t let that word be heard and then do nothing. Oh no! Instead she took HIM at HIS WORD and GOD has set her up to be the intercessor for a company that imparts loving encouragement and hope in the midst of hopelessness. LORD, my mom took you at YOUR WORD…and look how YOU have set her up to be an intercessor that points others back to YOU!
Then I began thinking of my precious dad. HE took GOD at HIS Word all those years, back in 1994 to go to a city that most ran from, yet GOD was saying otherwise. It was as though my dad heard that voice behind him saying (As illustrated in Isaiah 30:21), “This is the way you should go,” and he went on GOD’S WORD that spoke to his right now, that would be of far reaching measures. That was the moment my dad heard, “There are times when man says no, GOD says, GO.” It was from that moment, that was another, as mom would say, “Destiny changer moment”. That moment of obedience shifted everything into the dimension of “YOUR WILL BE DONE LORD”.
It’s as though two dimensions were waiting to receive their next steps…and as they walked into the seeming portal of obedience, it has a left an eternal ripple effect beyond today; effecting generations…
LORD, thank YOU for YOUR children, and I must say, “Thank YOU for all those who are obedient. They are not just people to admire, but to emulate as it truly imitates Christ Jesus.” Today, may every reader of this devotional go and have their heads lifted high, no matter their past. You are more powerful than their past; and in that, they believe that and are believing YOU. No matter their results, they know their decisions are far reaching than the temporary.
May they look at YOU as YOUR glory is their countenance; YOUR peace that rests on them and within; every moment, YOU would cause them to be recognized because the light of YOU shines so brightly through them.
LORD, may each of us be reminded that you placed on us unique mantles that reveal YOU as wherever we go, we get to make it that much better. Not based on who we are; but who we are in YOU! Today, may people who watch us declare, “How Great Thou Art!”
