When you think of grace, what comes to mind?
Do you think of it from a place of lack or from abundance?
If it’s from a place of lack, you’ll possibly believe that grace covers you while you sin. Yet on the contrary, to think of grace from the place of abundance is to know that grace empowers you to rise above sin.
In other words…God’s LOVING Grace empowers you and I to obey. Now that is incredible, isn’t it?
The grace of God allows us to be see and experience what “Being the light in the world” is all about. It isn’t a “Little” light – it’s a BRILLIANT ONE!
I would love to give a beautiful example of living in God’s grace versus living only by the law. When we live by the law, we see all that we can’t do and we see how much we can’t do anything apart from HIM in our mere human strength. Let’s just say we could successfully live according to the law, then it would be from a place of, “I don’t want to get caught.” OR “I don’t want to get in trouble.” It’s about us. Whereas the TRUE GRACE OF GOD causes us to see that when we live in GOD’s LOVE; HIS LOVE fulfills the law and now we are doing the “Right” things from a place of considering others. We are wanting to do what is right to protect not only ourselves; but to protect others. It goes back to the two commandments that Jesus revealed as recorded in Matthew 22:36-40,
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
