Day 19: Trissy and I had such a rich conversation

Day 19:

Trissy and I had such a rich conversation yesterday…although she had the day off from therapy, we had God therapy…let’s just say it like that…Here’s an excerpt of our sweet conversation:

Tristin: People would say to me, “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚.”

Mom: It seems so cliche. But it’s truth, you know.

Tristin: “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨?” Your mind instantly goes, “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙞𝙜 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜?” Your mind instantly wonders.

Mom: It’s true. Your mind automatically goes to a stage or to a platform.

Tristin: It goes to an occupation, it doesn’t go to just in God.

Mom: Everyday life in Him.

Tristin: No, I mean in God. 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙙. You know what I mean? It doesn’t go to that, we go to a mindset of platform, occupation, money, We go to that, because that’s how we know. We operate in that because we’re humans. We have this life, we have these things that we have to do to be able to be in life. You know we have to have money, we have to have this…it’s never about just being settled, or being at peace of, “It’s whatever God wants.’ And that’s what I used to be like. I’d wonder and ponder on that wondering; instead of the wondering of God.

Mom: Wow

Tristin: Instead of, that makes me want to draw closer to God. Not, “𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙄 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚?”

You know what I mean?

Mom: So good; I do, I do. I think also, your calling, you’ve always lived it, and it’s Psalm 144:12, “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙮 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚.” And I paraphrase that, as you know, “𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.” So it doesn’t matter if you’re in the parking lot or if you’re at an event or if you are at home; or with your family. Wherever you go you have made it better and you have pointed us back to the Father.

She sees that God is our Purpose. He is our Journey. He is our Destiny. He is our Dream Come True. That’s when we will truly know...God’s Got You!

Well I just found out it’s #nationaldaughterday - we get to spread the joy as our leaves never have to whither no matter the seasons of life as God is our everything!

I get to call you daughter! Everywhere you go in Christ, you get to make it better! I love doing life with you as you point me to Jesus over and over again and it’s done in such a unique, stunning and attractive way! I love you so much my faith warrior!

𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲! 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝘀, 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿.

Tristin said more than once, “If my story causes people to know Jesus in a deep way, then I would do this with Him all over again.”

Trissy has experienced something we all can encounter. I asked her how she did/does it? Her answer blew me closer to Him...

“𝗠𝗼𝗺, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗛𝗲 𝗶𝘀. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲;”

Everything she said is what the true mark of a mature believer is according to the Book of Colossians. This is what leaves the world in awe and what builds up the church for what it was intended to be.

His grace that she received to love God’s goodness and recognize His faithfulness in the secret place before the climatic moment happened on September 9th. There’s a deeper deep she is responding to in Christ. It’s not just Christ with her. It’s not just Christ who goes before her; it’s not just Christ surrounding her; it’s the Holy Spirit of Christ dwelling WITHIN her. What a preposition. Within. Beyond near.

In this revelation she is understanding that even her body is dependent on what she speaks to it. She’s learning to minister to herself as she would desire to minister to others. Yet it happens not out of a “To Do Step” - but from a place of worshiping God and beholding His glory with such awe. From that place is where God’s love flows through and takes over her own love, especially for herself, and is able to reveal the grace of God to others.

“𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝, “‘𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝.’ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. 𝐀 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: ‘𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.’

Yes. You read that correctly. Yesterday, while in pain, our Trissy asked me that question.

Tears welled up in my eyes. I bent down over her hospital bed and said, “Tristin. You’ve always honored us and others in wanting to serve. But we need you to let us serve you and ask you that question.” Tears streamed down her face as she said, “Okay. But mom, are you sure?” I said, “Tristin, thank you for wanting to help mama, but please don’t be concerned about dad and mom. We are able to get whatever we need; here’s what you can do for mom...you will let me help you. Help me by letting me help you, as you would say Trissy.” We had a Jerry Maguire moment.

This is who God has allowed us to be a parent to. She points us to the Father God in her waking moments, moments of lying down and her vulnerable hard moments that leave you with great hope.

Another amazing moment yesterday was when her dad coached her through some hurdles within the mind yesterday on how to press through. He told her that she was the one at the end of the day who will determine how fast she heals with her ability to receive help from other people. That right there is mind blowing; she wants to do everything on her own. He said her only control was how she responded to these moments. He said something like this, “You are experiencing the raw truth that you have no control. None. The only thing you have going for you is the ability to control self” and that is supernatural - it trumps the mind and body and causes the mind and body to submit to the Spirit of God’s love. In other words, we have control of ourselves to lean into God’s power...and so she did. And what a day, moments of revelations that would not have been unearthed unless we went deeper in Him.

The depths of darkness cause you to look for the light, until one day you find out that God’s rescue was putting His light within you to realize God’s Got You! #TeamJesus #GodsGotYou

To all you prayer warriors, social media sharers a

To all you prayer warriors, social media sharers and cheerleaders of the Faith...I wanted to update y’all on today’s victories for our Trissy:

- 1st day of In Patient Rehab was so good.

- Our Trissy is going to thrive because she is reminding herself who she is in Christ and has a schedule everyday and daily and long term goals to set and achieve

- She presses through the frustration of having to be dependent on others to do the everyday things I take for granted.

- Her speech therapist loves the LORD so much and they hit it off

- Her left side of face has been restored and she can now eat almost anything

- Her sheer determination to persevere and lift that left arm with her right hand. To watch her through the frustration, as her left side is the dominant side, she tells it that it will move. I’m in awe of God’s equipping power that graces her to look to God with and in faith.

- She got rejuvenated by her dad and his pep talk by the power of Holy Spirit of her destiny in the LORD and now she knows a deeper meaning to 2 Corinthians 12:9, “𝗠𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱. 𝗠𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.” 𝗦𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗺𝗲.”

Today, whatever your victory is - we rejoice with you!

Whatever surprise you’ve been devastated by - we mourn and pray with you. Yet we also declare that God has you!

God’s Got You!

He has the last word over your life.

He is the Author and Finisher of your faith and you are getting hold of another testimony to wield with power; testifying of God’s faithfulness and goodness YET again!

Let’s draw close to Him today. It’s how we prepare in Him to endure and persevere the troubles of this life so that the narrative is not the trouble; instead the narrative is God’s overcoming power in the midst of trouble!
